Carriers of His Glory (Part III)

Introduction: As we continue the discussion on the topic – Carriers of His glory, we want to focus now on the dimensions of God’s glory. In the beginning God gave every one of His creatures a different dimension of glory. The Bible in I Cor. 15: 40 – 41 talks about the glory of the sun and the moon and the stars. The purpose of God for us in the beginning was to enjoy the fullness of His glory. God used to fellowship with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden without any hindrance between them. After the fall, however, the glory of God departed from them and it has not been the same. Generation after generation, man has continued to seek God in order to enjoy or carry His glory.

(Hebrews 11: 17 – 40)

Dimensions of His glory: Moses a leader of Israel had a different dimension of God’s glory than the other children of Israel. The Bible says in Ps. 103: 7 that “He made known His ways unto Moses, His acts unto the children of Israel”. The glory of God upon Moses was such that when he came down from Mt. Sinai, he had to cover his face with a veil in order to communicate with the Israelites. In II Cor. 3: 7 – 18, the glory of Moses was compared to the glory of Christ. Whereas the glory of Moses was temporary (passing), the glory of Christ is permanent (eternal) v. 7-8. Whereas the glory of Moses ministered condemnation, the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ ministered righteousness (v. 9). Compared to Christ the glory of Moses was nothing (v. 10). The glory of Moses brought spiritual blindness to the Israelites, the glory of Christ brought spiritual revelation and liberty to us (v. 14, 17). The will of God for us is to enjoy the fullness of His glory and our ultimate goal should be to seek the fullness of His glory. In order for us to achieve this, we must do the following:

1. Be born again: There is a dimension of God’s glory that comes upon us as soon as we are born again (v. 16). The veil the enemy has used to blind our mind is removed and the glory of God comes upon us.

2. Walk in ways of God: As we make effort to walk in the ways of God we also receive the grace to manifest the characteristics of the carriers of His glory such giving, holiness, faith, prayer and love.

3. We must seek for the fullness of His glory: Moses sought for the fullness of God’s glory (Ex. 33: 18); David sought for the fullness of His glory (Ps. 27: 4); Apostle Paul sought for the fullness of His glory (Phil. 3: 10). For us to enjoy the fullness of God’s glory we must seek for it diligently.

4. We must behold His glory continuously: The Bible says in II Cor. 3: 18 that “but we all with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the spirit of the Lord.” This means that the more we gaze upon the glory of God, the more we are transformed into His likeness.

As we close it is important to note that a life of sin can diminish the glory of God upon our lives. It affected Samson, it affected King Saul, it affected Judas.
