Occupy Till I Come (Introduction)

Introduction: As we live our lives every day, we must always remember that we are here for a purpose: to live our lives for God. We are here to represent God and to be about our Father’s business until He comes. The devil does not want us to succeed, therefore he will do everything he can to distract us. Those who are successfully distracted by the devil end up in hell, a place reserved for the devil and his fallen angels. God does not desire for us to end up in hell, but to spend eternity with Him in heaven.

(Mark 9: 43 – 48)

That is why we have to be sober and be vigilant daily so that we can recognize and resist the devil whenever he comes to attack us through deception. The Bible says in Mark 9:43-48 that “And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. (Mark 9:43-48 KJV). From these verses, it is clear that:
1. Hell is not a place for anyone to be but the devil and his angels. It is a place of endless torment, horror, regret and lamentation.
2. It is possible to avoid going to hell by separating ourselves from actions or lifestyles that can cause us to end up there. The Bible says if our leg or hand should cause us to go to hell, we should cut it off. If our eyes should make us miss heaven, we should pluck them out. Those are tough decisions to make but it is better to make heaven injured than to spend eternity in hell.
3. It is possible to end up in heaven and live in eternity with God. Heaven is the place where God dwells and that is where He wants us to be and that is where we should long to be.
4. We have to make the right choices. The first choice we must make is to give our lives to Jesus as our Lord and Savior. When we accept Him, He will come into our heart and make His dwelling there. He will also supply us with the grace to live a life of obedience to Him daily.
