(Psalm 16: 1 – 11)
The book was out in 2005 and the statistics might have even changed as of today. We do not have the guarantee that things will get better, we however have the guarantee that for a child of God, there is a Hiding Place; a place of refuge and a place of rest. That Hiding Place is Jesus. In Matt. 7: 13 – 14, Jesus talked about two ways of life. He said “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Many people living in the world today are walking in the way that leads to destruction but it is important for us to discover the narrow way that lead to life and walk in it. The following are some of the reasons we must choose the way.
1. Those who walk in the narrow way are preserved: Though we live in a dark world, those who walk in the narrow way are preserved from evil (Ps. 16: 1). Those who walk in the narrow way are quiet from the fear of evil (Ps. 7:11).
2. God is angry with the wicked everyday: The Bible says that God judges the righteous and He is angry with the wicked everyday (Ps. 7: 11). Walking in the narrow way will keep us at peace with God.
3. Those who walk in the narrow way shall abide under God’s shadow: As we walk in the narrow way, we will abide under the shadow of the almighty God. 4. Those who walk in the narrow way are like trees planted by the rivers of water: When we dwell in God’s hiding place, we have the promise of His divine fruitfulness. Our leaves will not wither and whatsoever we do shall prosper (Ps. 1: 1 – 3).
5. Those who walk in the narrow way have divine favor: The Bible says in Ps. 5: 12 that God blesses the righteous and surrounds him with favor like a shield.
6. The sorrow of the ungodly shall increase: Those who choose not to make God their Hiding Place will have increased sorrow according to Ps. 16: 4.
7. Those who walk in the narrow way have a goodly heritage: Aslong as we dwell in the Hiding Place, we will be partakers of God’s inheritance (Ps. 16: 6).
8. Those who walk in the narrow way have Godly counsel: When we make God our Hiding Place, we receive Godly counsel that help us to navigate life according to Ps. 16: 7. .
9. There is confidence in the Hiding Place: Ps.16: 8 says that “I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.”
10. Those who walk in the narrow way have joy and eternity: In God’s presence there is fullness of joy and at His right hand there are pleasures forever (Ps. 16: 11).
