Always Remember To Give Thanks

Introduction: Thanksgiving is an expression of gratitude, especially to God. It is the act of giving thanks, grateful acknowledgement of benefits or favors, especially to God. Only God is reliable and dependable. He is the unchangeable changer and the unmovable mover. He is the mountain mover and the one who opens doors. We must always remember to give thanks because this is the will of God for all of us (I Thess. 5:18).

(Psalm 138: 1 – 8)

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord and to sing thy praise O Most High (Psalm 92: 1). Even in times of tragedy, we should give thanks to God for what remains because He is the reason why we have not lost everything. When there is life, there is hope. It is of the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness (Lam. 3:22). Our God is everything to us. He is Jehovah Jireh, Jehovah Shammah, Jehovah Jireh, and Jehovah Rohi. He supplies our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Why Do We Need to Give Thanks?
1. Because the Lord commands us to do so: Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Eph. 5:20). It is a good thing to give thanks to The Lord and to sing your praise O Most High.

2. To showcase the blessings of God upon our lives. Others are encouraged through our testimony. We give thanks to make known His deeds amongst the people; so that others might know that we recognize that every good gift comes from above (James 1:17). It causes the hearers to look up to him and to give him glory, and praise, and worship.
3. To honor God. I will bless The Lord at all times and His praise shall continually in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together (Ps. 34: 1 – 3). When we praise God, He is excited about us. He is moved by our praises and He elevates us.
4. Thanking God brings divine remembrance: It helps us to remember what God has done (Phil.4:6, Matt.6:25). Why worry yourself when God can provide for you. We can give thanks and we can be released from anxiety.
5. It opens the heavens unto us and pours down His shower spoon us: Giving thanks refreshes our relationship with God and draws us closer to Him
6. It builds our faith: As we give thanks, our faith in God is reinforced.
7. Thanking God brings victory and deliverance: Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah sang praises unto God and God turned all the enemies of Judah against each other (II Chronicles 20).
8. It brings showers of Blessings: Thanking God seals our blessings and clears the way for blessings. Only one of the ten lepers was made whole by Jesus.
How do we give thanks to God?

Sing unto the Lord with thanksgiving (Ps. 147: 7)
2. Sharing your testimonies: Declare his doings among the people (Isa. 12: 4)
3. By giving to God: We can give to God in diverse ways in cash and in kind.
4. By praying to Him: We can express our thanksgiving through our prayers
5. By living Godly lives: Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matt. 5: 16-17).
