Sermon Titbits

A New Beginning

Introduction: After the death of Moses, God had to choose another person to lead the children of Israel from the wilderness into the Promised Land. That mantle of leadership fell upon Joshua. Under Moses the children of Israel lived and wandered in the wilderness for forty years; under Joshua it was a new day and a new beginning. The season of wandering was over. Moses had to die before Joshua could lead the people into the Promised Land. Joshua led a new generation of Israelites into their inheritance but there were two problems:

Gaged But Not Destroyed

Introduction: The Bible says in II Cor. 4: 8 – 9 that “we are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” To be caged means to be barred in a room or fenced enclosure as in a prison. A prison is a place of confinement or captivity and a prisoner is a person deprived of liberty and kept under involuntary restraint, confinement, or custody. Caged times are terrifying moments; times you feel stranded or frustrated, times of fear, anxiety, trouble, weariness, or confusion.

Winning On My Knees

Co-Working with God

Introduction: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth, and everything therein. In God’s creation account, we discover that the creation was a corporate effort between the Godhead – God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit. Just before the end of the early creation of the world, God introduced man with the sole purpose of taking care of His creatures (Genesis 1:26, 2:19-20). This is emphasized in Psalm 115:16 – “The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s, but the earth He has given to the children of men”.

The Wounded Healer

Introduction: One of the Covenant names of our Lord Jesus is Jehovah Rapha, that is, God our Healer. Without doubt, Jesus qualifies to be called the Healer because the Bible says in Isa. 53:5 that “He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.” Jesus is not just the Healer, He is the Wounded Healer: In this message, we focus on the Passion of Jesus, the Power of Jesus and the Presence of Jesus in order to understand His role as the Wounded Healer.
